Scholarship Policy

Academic Scholarships at Star College Cape Town

Scholarships for Existing Students

Academic scholarships are awarded based on a learner’s final marks from the previous year. These scholarships are granted annually and are reviewed based on the learner’s academic performance in the following year(s).

  • Award Basis: Scholarships are determined by final marks, not term marks.
  • Review Process: Scholarships are reviewed each year based on ongoing academic performance.
  • Non-Cumulative: Only the highest academic achievement is considered.
  • Single Credit: Scholarships are provided as a one-time benefit for the year.

Scholarships for New Students (Grade 8 Entry)

New learners entering Grade 8 may qualify for an academic scholarship based on a combination of their past academic achievements, leadership roles, entrance exam results, and an interview.

  • Entrance Exam: Academic scholarships may be awarded based on performance in the school’s One-Session Common Entrance Exam (end of February).
  • Past Academic Results: Previous academic performance will be considered.
  • Leadership Roles: Learners who have served in significant leadership positions, such as Head Girl, may be eligible.
  • Interview: After the entrance exam, an interview may be conducted to assess eligibility.

All scholarship decisions are made by the Scholarship Committee, who will evaluate each learner’s eligibility and determine the appropriate level of scholarship.
