GET Phase
This is the phase where our learners start to make up their mind for their future. At the end of this phase (in Grade 9) a subject choice meeting takes place for learners and parents to enlighten them about their subjects and career options. Subjects we offer in the GET phase are:
• English Home Language
• Afrikaans (First Additional Language)
• Turkish (Second Additional Language)
• Mathematics
• Life Orientation and Physical Education
• Social Sciences
• Natural Science (Taught separately as physics, life sciences, chemistry and astronomy)
• Economic Management Studies
• Technology
• Creative Arts
• Physical Education
FET Phase
This is the last and most critical phase before tertiary education. We offer all the compulsory subjects such as:
• English Home Language
• Afrikaans First Additional Language / IsiXhosa First Additional Language
• Turkish (Second Additional Language – Grade 10 & 11)
• Mathematics (Both pure and literacy)
• Life Orientation
In addition to this, learners are given the choice to decide from the following elective subjects:
• Physical Science OR* History
• Life Science OR* Business Studies
• Geography OR* Religion Studies
• Visual Arts OR* Computer Applications and Theory (CAT)
(*Should the learner want to study both, she has to do it as self-study but still complete all the formal SBA tasks)
